3. PROCESS VARIABLES
The key to producing defect free welds is to identify and control the variables that affect or impact on the outcome of the welding process. Welding Process Variables are things (parameters) that you set, select, adjust, balance, change, manipulate, tweeque or otherwise have control over to affect or influence the outcome or results of the welding operation. (Manual - Semi-automatic - Automatic)

Each welding process has its own set of variables that must be identified, controlled and mastered. When you master the process variables, you will indeed produce outcomes that are: advantageous, predictable, favorable, repetitive, reliable and profitable.

A. Fixed Variables

Fixed Variables are usually set prior to the start of the welding operation.

B. Manipulated Variables

Manipulated Variables may change or be constrained during the welding operation.

C. Essential Variables

Essential Variables are variables that usually produce a sever consequential impact on the outcome of the weld.

D. Non-Essential Variables

Non-Essential Variables usually have no significant affect on the outcome of the weld.
